On kids. No husband. Just me and my 'puter. I am going to go wild!! I will do one of two, no, three things. I can put away laundry!! I make the sign I need to take to work. Or, I can take down the garland above the kitchen cabinets and put new lights and flowers on them. Hummmm..maybe I'll put away some laundry, then decorate the garland. Sounds like a plan. I know. The little child and I went to the kids shoes to see if there were any deals. I found 3 pairs for each girl! No pair over $9.00!!! Great deals, right. Wellllll....read on. So , Laney and I got the rest of our things we actually came to the store for. You know, food to survive on. Ohhh....and I got the fixins' to make the Sticky PBnJ chicken!! I'll let you know how that works out.
We finally got to the checkout to pay for our things. Waited, waited and waited some more. If you've ever been to Wal Mart, you know that the ratio of shoppers and registers that are open and ready to serve you, is a little off ( to put it nicely ).
Finally, it's our turn. The first pair of Laneys shoes get scanned. They are a great pair of dark red, patent leather boots w/ a little heel ( my 5 yr old has been wearing heels since she was 2, but that's another story ). It turns out, we can't buy these boots. Why? Because, they have been RECALLED!!! The heel can break! Ok, no prob Bob. I want my tot to be safe. Next pair of shoes are ok. Then he scans Chloes sneakers. RECALLED!!!! WTH??? So I ask why. The guy at the register does not know, so he calls his manager. Miss. Snottypants Manager (really, that's what her name tag said ) comes over. He asks if she knew why the sneakers were recalled. She does not know. I asked if I could buy them anyway. Can't see what could be a big issue with sneakers. Is there lead paint on them? My 10 yr old isn't going to lick them. Welllll, then again. Snotarella says, "No, it's a health issue, that's why they recalled them-who are "THEY"? There is a sign with the shoes stating this information. Oh, wellllll excuse me!! I must remember to look for signs. I formally apologize to all the people who come to my store and don't read the signs. Sometimes I think mean things about your intelligence. SORRY!!
Because there was a line behind me and because I needed to get home. Chloes bus gets to the house at 240 and it was already 200 and I was 15 minutes from home, I left, with the obvious question burning in my mind...."If the shoes are recalled, why are they on the shelf"? Again, this is why I am not a manager. Common sense! I have some.
On the way out the door, Laney and I got 2 pretzel dogs, some cinnamon pretzel sticks, and a free pretzel (because when you buy 3 pretzels, you get one free). Go to the car and loaded our things. Gave Laney her dog. Driving down the road, I went to get my pretzel dog. NO PRETZEL DOG!! They ( HEY- that's who they are!! They make pretzels and recall shoes!!) forgot my dog!! No time to go back. Will be late for the big kid. So Laney gives me her pretzel dog because she decided she just wanted the regular pretzel. Thanks Laney!!
As I try and take the dog out of the bag, the pretzel starts to slide off. I can't do anything because I am driving while eating. Safety first!! I watch helplessly, out of the corner of my eye, as my dog falls out of the pretzel and onto the floor. Guess I can't eat that dog now. Or, maybe I can just wipe it off-hey, I've got kids. What do I care. 3 second rule, right? Waste not, want not. A little dirt never hurt anyone. There is probably dirt in hot dogs anyway. What exactly is in a hot dog??
Got home, with 6 minutes to spare for the bus. Just another day in the life of my family!!
HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!
Carrie

Ok...so nothing exciting has happened in my life today. Yet!!! It's only 1144am. My youngest daughter may have a Tapeworm though. She eats ALLLLLL day long!! MOM I'M HUNGRY! It's always the first thing out of her mouth when she wakes up. Except on Tues. and Thurs. when she states-"I don't want to go to school". Can't wait until she goes 5 days a week in the Fall. She is a rather healthy eater. She loves veggies and fruits. She enjoys trying new foods, too. Now, as for my oldest daughter, that's a different story. Not really sure how she survives. She's not into new foods. When she does try them she takes birdie bits..only to say "Nope-Don't like it". You have to understand, I cook...ALOT!! Homemade soups, roasts, big salads, chicken..and I LOVE to try new things. Such as the "Turkey Burgers on a stick" that I am making for dinner tonight. They look awesome!! I found them in Rachael Rays Everyday mag. Going to try the PBnJ Chicken tomorrow I think. Anyway, my oldest daughter will try something I have cooked and say, " Mom, this is really good". Meanwhile, she is pushing her food around her plate and doing everything she can NOT to eat. I have learned that, when this statement is made, she really doesn't like the food at all. Whatever kid. The rule in my house.is " That's what there is to eat. If you don't like it-STARVE". I was a waitress once-Man those people have tons of patience or something because, that is one hard job to do!!
Must run-Hope to have some exciting adventure while I'm out to tell you about!!
Peace
Domestic B

Home Improvement Project #189-Take 2

So, I get home from work on Stupid Bowl Sunday, in time to see The Mr. off to a Stupid Bowl party. As he is walking out the door, he says to me, " Honey...I want to show you what I got for the house today at Home Depot, so don't go into the garage -it's a suuuuuprise!!
OHHHH NOOOO...that only means one thing....ANOTHER home project that may or may not be completed...thankfully my newly retired Father-In-Law will be here to help...and by help, I mean, cause great humor to those of us who will be observing the situation.
Now, you must understand, I have one of those VERY handy husbands. He can fix ANYTHING around the house. The problem with this is, he has two jobs, two kids and a wife who works. This leaves him with very little free time. This, however, does not stop him from starting projects..it only causes him to have trouble finishing them.
So, The Mr. gets home after the Stupid Bowl Party-"GO STEELERS"-does that sound convincing?? I do not really care for sports....anyway, The Mr. gets home and shows me the Wainscoting for the kitchen and hallway. I respond, charming as always.." Really honey??? You're going to start another project? To go along with the unfinished wood floor, the patched, but not sanded and repainted ceiling, the carpet that needs replaced, the lights that need to be hung, etc. etc. I know, I know, my enthusiasum and support is refreshing!! It's a gift!!
So, Monday night, The Mr. comes home from work and states he will be taking off work the next day to start project #189. UUUGGGGHHHH!! Again, I question the idea of this whole thing. Here's a bit of how the convo went...
Me: Honey...do you have a plan.
The Mr.: Yes, dear.
Me: Do you have all your tools for said project.
The Mr.: I think so.
Me: Honey, don't you think you should give yourself a little more time to plan for this?
The Mr.: What do you mean?
Me: Did he REALLY just say that?
The Mr.: Don't worry.
Me: Yea right!!!
The Mr.: Am I going to mess up your day by being here?
Me: Yes, you will.
The Mr.: That's really nice, honey!
and so on, and so on.
Tuesday morning comes. We get the big kid off to school and take the little kid to Pre-School. After a few errands, we arrive back at home to "Get to work".
The first 2 boards come upstairs, along with some niffty plastic dividers to hide the seems. First board, first divider go together with no problem. The second board gets the swearing started. "Honey, do you need my help". Yes Dear....I do. As we try and force the 2nd board into the divider, The Mr. states, " This shouldn't be sooo hard". I soon find out, the reason they don't fit is because the dividers aren't made for the Wainscoting. That's right.....NOT MADE FOR THE WAINSCOTING!!!!! The Mr. thought they would work. Think again, Honey.
So after a bit of forcing, and a chipped corner ( that's what happens to Wainscoting when dropped on the floor ), I give up. Lucky for me, my Father-In-Law arrived. Thank goodness!!
I get to pull up a chair with a nice, hot cup of coffee, and enjoy the show. Here's a bit of how that convo went....
The Mr.: STUPID THING!!!!! WHY WON'T YOU GO IN?????
The F.I.L.: WOULD YOU RELAX? YOU GIVE UP TOOO EASILY!
The Mr.: GRUMBLE, GRUMBLE, STUPID BOARD, GRUMBLE....HOLD ON POP!! YOU'RE IMPATIENT.
The F.I.L: I'M NOT IMPATIENT, YOU JUST NEED TO HURRY UP!!
and on , and on, and on.....
At this point , I had to go to work, so I didn't get to witness anymore antics. As it stands today, my F.I.L. has been over everyday to work on the wall. That is, he works on the wall after he plays games on the Wii!!! That's a whole other blog I will write in the days to come. The F.I.L. has gotten alot done. I am impressed. Maybe this project will be completed in a timely manner.
